Why Most Beginner Artists Feel Stuck (And What Actually Helps)

I wasn’t always confident in my drawings.

There was a time when I’d sit down to draw…and just feel completely stuck.

I didn’t know what I was doing wrong.

I’d start drawings and give up halfway through.

And I genuinely thought: “Maybe I’m just not good enough at this.”

But the turning point wasn’t talent.

It was understanding what to focus on.

Learning how to break things down. Learning how to build layers. Learning what actually makes something look realistic.

That’s what changed everything for me.

And it’s exactly what I now help other artists with inside my membership.

So if you want to go from this:

Drawing of a realistic elephant on a sandy background. Soft gray and brown shades. Signed "Debbie Lou, 13 July 2020" in the corner.
This is an elephant I drew in July 2020

To this:

Realistic drawing of a wolf's head with brown and gray fur on a white background. The wolf's eyes are intense and focused.
This is a wolf I drew in 2026

I’ll be opening the doors again soon, and I’d love for you to be part of it. And if you join the waitlist, you'll receive my free guide, "5 Steps to Realistic Animal Drawing"
